This piece is derived from a 1920s fencing jacket pattern, redesigned with an anatomically tailored fit featuring a curved hem and an adjustable back waistband, resulting in a perfectly balanced vintage-to-contemporary vest that serves as a wardrobe staple for the Original Gentleman. This outerwear-focused vest is crafted in a limited bolt, heavyweight 18 oz. Dark Olive Tweed Twill weave produced at the 200-year-old original Somerset mill by the world-famous Fox Brothers® using the finest 100% British Merino Wool in a worsted, suiting grade fabric engineered for the outdoors. Since 1772, Fox Brothers has produced top-tier textiles for a range of applications, including Savile Row tailoring and British Military garments. By sourcing the finest fibers from around the world and employing intensive, hand-driven milling and cording processes, they produce fabrics of the highest grade, combining comfort, density, and durability. This incredibly flexible and robust twill wool comes in a natural palette to reflect the Devon coast countryside transitioning into the Exmoor wilderness it's designed to confront. It boasts a complex cloth made from yarns dyed in olive, forest, and brown shades, offering a refined aesthetic and a luxuriously textured finish. This French Fencing Hunt Vest is designed with a gunmetal two-way zipped closure, a buttoned storm placket, a buttoned storm collar tab, and ergonomically placed D-shaped patch front hand pockets. This design allows for outdoor versatility and functionality with an elevated style. Paying homage to the originals but with refined sophistication, diamond pattern quilting and wool batten provide lightweight yet effective insulation, along with a cotton featherwale corduroy lining for a finely finished and comfortable utility piece, designed to layer over or under various garments. This vest is packed with superior bespoke and old-world detailing like felled seams, bartack reinforcements, and military-grade Japanese duck canvas trim for the placket, hem, pockets, sleeves, and back band, along with cast and burnished gunmetal buttons.
