Collection: Taiga Takahashi T.T

Through the lens of Applied Archaeology, Taiga Takahashi, known as T.T by cult-collectors, meticulously studies the garments worn by workers and everyday people who contributed to America's growth in the late 19th century, and how these clothes related to their life and duties, seeking to understand the essence of their daily existence. Approaching craftsmanship with a deep connection to history and techniques lost to mass production and consumption, T.T handcrafts garments in traditional methods to be functional time capsules. Applied archaeology isn't just about reproduction, but "resurrecting relics of the past to unearth artifacts of the future." Guided by this philosophy, T.T creates with a forward-looking view, blending aesthetic principles rooted in Japanese concepts of beauty. After graduating from Central Saint Martins College in London, Taiga Takahashi moved to New York, where he began archiving and documenting industrial-era garments produced in the U.S. from the 18th to 20th centuries. This project eventually led to the founding of his eponymous label. Working as a self-described sartorial "archaeologist" of these artifacts, and aiming to recreate resilience that transcends eras, T.T infused this timelessness with a sense of luxury and thoughtful design. Tragically, in Spring 2022, Takahashi passed away, leaving his label in the hands of his collaborative team who continue his unique, beautiful approach to translating history.
