The English Hunt Work Jacket by MotivMfg x Division Road is designed as a meeting point between tailored and dutiful industrial-era blazers used as workwear and countryside hunting jackets. This piece is derived from 1920s sack jacket patterns and redesigned with an anatomically tailored fit with a single back piece folded into shape to provide structure and form — in the same type of durable material that epitomized the originals — to create a cut perfectly balanced between vintage and contemporary. This jacket is made in a heavyweight 18 oz. Graphite Honeycomb Stripe cloth made to MotivMfg's specifications in collaboration with Scotland's renowned Lovat® Mill using 100% Shetland Wool in a fabric with a dress persona created for the outdoors. With a focus on true sustainability and traceability through vertical production, this Honeycomb Stripe Tweed is made from ethically sourced mulesing-free fleece from wild-raised Shetland Sheep on the northern Scottish Islands local to Lovat® Mill, the "Home of Tweed," established in 1826. A honeycomb stripe with a subtle herringbone creates a multi-dimensional textured pattern, while the pliable, durable, and soft Shetland yarn provides dutiful performance and drape. It boasts a complex cloth using shades of warm graphite, grey, and natural yarns for a sophisticated woven aesthetic and luxurious finish. This English Hunt Work Jacket is designed with a rolling 5-button front to allow for dress-to-outerwear versatility, function, and style with a Cupro twill half-lined body for a structured shape and optimal drape, paired with Bemberg lined sleeves and a functional button cuff for practical refinement. Paying homage to the originals with sophistication, this jacket has beautifully shaped and utilitarian pocketing like a patch front chest pocket, two front welted patch pockets with flaps that will tuck in for different formats and functions, along with three interior buttoned twill patch pockets for the tools of your trade. This piece is packed with superior bespoke and old-world detailing like felled seams, zigzag back collar stitching, bartack reinforcements throughout, and custom genuine ebony horn buttons with a unique matte finish. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment, one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the West.
