Tricker's

Founded in 1829 by Joseph Tricker, Tricker’s is the longest established shoemaker in England approaching 200 years of quality footwear production and is recognized as the maker of choice for heavy country boots. Joseph Tricker’s son-in-law, Walter James Barltrop, created the first model of the now famous waterproof country boot in 1848, when he was just seven years old. Barltrop propelled a second key innovation at Tricker’s when he introduced the Goodyear Welting machine at the turn of the 20th century after returning from a buying trip to NYC. Originating in Northampton UK, the birthplace of industrial shoe making, the new Tricker's factory opened its doors in 1904 and is still the center for all Tricker's manufacturing today. Using 260 individual production steps, Tricker’s are built to the same exacting standards that cemented the shoemaker's reputation. Unique processes such as high-count stitch-per-inch Goodyear welting, premium European-sourced leather, wooden shanks, and hand corked fillings make their shoes virtually indestructible. While many brands chase style trends, Tricker’s has stayed true to producing footwear with a dress sensibility that handles outdoor conditions with ease while remaining stalwart in the workplace. In 1989, the Prince of Wales recognized this premier manufacturer and awarded Tricker’s his Royal Warrant. Footwear aficionados, designers, and the style-forward heritage community swear by the brand’s products for their precise detailing, impressive comfort once broken in, and distinctive character.
