Founded in 2010 by designer Yoshiyuki Hayashi, a pioneer of Japan’s modern denim movement whose career spans more than three decades, Resolute is the singular vision of the perfected jean. Hayashi first gained recognition in the 1990s as a founding designer at Denime. He developed an enduring admiration for the American denim archetype, whose balanced proportions and enduring practicality shaped his view of what a jean should be. Resolute is a focused expression of a jeans-only brand dedicated to refining the essential five-pocket silhouette through experience, discipline, and uncompromising manufacturing spanning Japan's most respected denim regions. The fabrics are woven by Shinya Co., Ltd., on a vintage power loom reserved exclusively for Resolute and maintained by skilled technicians to ensure consistency and quality. From there, the jeans are cut and sewn in Niimi City, Okayama, at a facility once designated for Levi’s Japan, where specialized sewing machines and practiced craftsmanship guide each stage of construction. The finished garments are then washed and dried in Shimane Prefecture, completing a process defined by regional expertise and meticulous attention to detail. Resolute’s disciplined approach favors refinement over expansion, resulting in jeans designed to achieve the ideal balance of proportion, durability, and long-term wear.
