Collaborations and Releases with Arch Support Project, MotivMfg, William Lockie, and De Bonne Facture
This week, we’ve got a vast blast from the past assembly of goods made for the future. Taking inspiration and techniques from every era from the turn of the 20th century to today, this collection will remain relevant and durable for decades to come. We are pleased and proud to introduce the Arch Support Project with an exclusive collection appropriately paired with works from MotivMfg in a natural palette. De Bonne Facture also brings us some style staples in reinterpreted traditional woolens from Europe’s best mills, combined with a pair of William Lockie Fair Isle exclusives made for an authentically hip Ivy style. This release presents craft techniques with innovative styles and channels the best of the bygone for tomorrow.
De Bonne Facture
Completing this season’s collection of soft tailoring inspired by the great Carl Sagan’s academic panache, we bring you style-studious and soulful garments from De Bonne Facture. The wildly popular Overshirt and a fresh Camargue Vest come in an undyed charcoal and ecru Lovat® Sonsie Tweed Check resembling gingham. The past becomes present with a new Geography Teacher Jacket, which crosses tailoring and outerwear in an outstanding Harris Tweed® Houndstooth, and the Goat & Tree Zipped Sweater Jacquard Knit represents an ancient spiritual illustration in undyed French Merino Wool.
William Lockie x Division Road
To build up the arsenal of collectible knitwear for the current and impending climate, we have a new development in fit and form with William Lockie. A classic Fair Isle knit pattern comes from the most qualified to handle it — Scotland’s oldest family-owned maker. It uses durable, soft, and insulating Super Geelong lambswool. These collaborations with Lockie come in rare and style-versatile Mocha and Cocoa palettes to hallmark the icons in a modern approach to menswear.
MotivMfg x Division Road
From our Beijing Bombers of tailored craft, we have a small, limited capsule coming in a natural and undyed palette using specialty materials from some of the best mills in the world. Pulling our classic exclusives from the archives and using rare woolens from the famous Lovat® Mills, we have the treasured French Hunting Jacket in an undyed Nutmeg Sonsie Tweed and the iconic English Hunt Work Jacket in a Motiv-developed Graphite Honeycomb Stripe Shetland Tweed.
A new and reversible English Army Jerkin Vest comes with two identities. The Marling & Evans® Undyed Windowpane obliges the elegant naturalist, which flips to a Natural Fleece exterior for the directional outdoorsman. Concluding with our famed Swiss Army Cargos in one of our favorite undyed articles from Marling & Evans® — the Natural Herringbone Twill — and a Motiv-exclusive Charcoal Brown Linen/Wool/Silk Herringbone Twill, this is another collection that will drape and dress with distinct quality and style.
Arch Support Project x Division Road
With an exclusive collaboration collection, we introduce the Arch Support Project in three unique styles unified in materials, specifications, and methods. ASP is crafted in Southern China, the only workshop in the world that institutes this type of handcraft in footwear, and is led by master shoemaker Rock Yeh. Springing out of the MotivMfg inner circle and ethos, ASP takes modern design elements and turns back the clock with hand-grade footwear production and exclusive techniques in response to the mass industrialization of manufacturing in the 20th century. Completely hand-made from lasting to forming to chainstitched welting and bottoming, this high-design footwear is the pinnacle of artisan-made.
This all-black pack comes in Nero Conceria 800 Vacchetta Calf that is pit-tanned using mimosa, chestnut, and oak bark extracts to enhance the natural grain and flexibility in a durable, luxurious leather. Blacked-out detailing throughout is matched with completely exclusive elements and handwork, including the hand-stitched backstay and pull loop, braided chainstitched leather arch structure, hand-stitched storm welt, and customized Vibram Gumlite sole unit, all engineered in leather and integrated through craft — this footwear collection bridges avant-garde design with high-style anatomical forms to provide comfort with a commanding disposition.
The Alpine Hiker is based on the iconic mountaineering footwear made for the Alps, with similar elements and attitude for altitude. Over weeks, this whole-cut upper is formed to provide a consistent canvas and conformed fit with gun black eyelets, a leather backstay and pull loop, and a fashionable aesthetic that will trek the outdoors or streets alike.
The Military Moc High is inspired by European military winterized and field scouting boots. Coming with a unique split-moccasin toe design, this two-piece pattern is made from one hide and crafted into a continuous piece. The Military Moc has a high side wall, gun black eyelets, a black roughout padded collar, and an aggressive stance to style with poise.
The Workman Chelsea takes a workwear meets runway persona to the next level through craft in a style that’s always relevant, from 1960 mod to 2018 streetwear and today’s luxury fashion. Made in a rare whole-cut form for a sleek shape on a naturally platformed profile, it will become a true go-to for that elegant staple made with substantial proportion.
