Description

The Lot. 716 Damaged Indigo Denim Coverall Jacket from Taiga Takahashi T.T is inspired by a detailed study of archived chinstrap coverall workwear jackets from the 1920s through 1930s, with signature details evolved into a statement luxury piece. This Jacket is crafted from a sanforized, 9 oz. Original T.T Selvedge Denim, vintage shuttle-loomed in Okayama, in a custom 2x1 Twill with consistent, moderate tension that yields a luxurious, structured drape. This signature denim features 100% US-grown Organic Cotton for exclusive yarns that are slightly slubbed to achieve subtle, period-correct fades. The green cast indigo rope-dyed warp is woven with an unbleached natural weft that appears charcoal, featuring a natural core that replicates the industrial-era grey-green selvedge denims of yesteryear. Referencing the archive original, artisans hand-distressed and iron dyed the garment through sophisticated, multi-staged processes to replicate decades of work-wear in an authentic aesthetic. Reimagined and refined, this jacket is unlined, features a point collar with a buttoned throat latch, and offers a relaxed, functional fit, tailored with articulated set-in sleeves and adjustable cuffs. Guided by the Applied Archaeology ethos and the Taiga Takahashi archives, this piece resurrects a relic of the past to serve as an artifact of the future, blending aesthetic principles rooted in Japanese concepts of craftsmanship and beauty. Paying homage to the antique original, the Denim Coverall Jacket has a vintage-inspired, uncoated, iron-buttoned front closure, a buttoned flap patch chest pocket, a buttoned welted patch chest watch pocket, lower patch pockets, and an interior patch chest pocket with selvedge line reveal. Innovating designs from the past using old-world techniques with exquisite precision, the Lot. 716 Jacket is made with felled seams, chainstitched construction, and bartack reinforcements. Step into the future with a timeless vision of the past with Taiga Takahashi.

    Collection: Taiga Takahashi T.T

Through the lens of Applied Archaeology, Taiga Takahashi, known as T.T by cult-collectors, meticulously studies the garments worn by workers and everyday people who contributed to America's growth in the late 19th century, and how these clothes related to their life and duties, seeking to understand the essence of their daily existence. Approaching craftsmanship with a deep connection to history and techniques lost to mass production and consumption, T.T handcrafts garments in traditional methods to be functional time capsules.
