Releases from Taiga Takahashi T.T and ts(s)
This week, we have a release that sets the color and story tone for the season with two of Japan’s top heritage designer brands. In a consistent palette and theme, Taiga Takahashi and ts(s) draw on the past with advanced garments for the forward-looking collector. This collection skillfully references workwear, tailoring, sportswear, and militaria in innovative ways, creating something original rather than a reproduction. With proprietary fabric developments, anatomical designs, exquisite trims, and the precision and intention of Japanese craftsmanship, gather the fruits of spring in pieces that will remain relevant and timeless well beyond the season.
T.T
The archives once again offer inspiration that reflects the timeless, well-worn original, through an assembly of Taiga Takahashi’s T.T that continues to astonish. This completion of the season’s collection presents a narrative timeline of how garments repurposed from WWI were used by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the Great Depression, along with the evolution of workwear during WWII.
The past is reflected in the reinterpretation of the archive example through innovative developments of bespoke fabrics and trims that serve as beautiful, poetic expressions. From garment dyes made with ancient mud baths and native tree extracts to hand-finished fades and washes, along with subtle construction details, each piece from T.T remains as fresh as it is vintage.
ts(s)
As one of the first Japanese designers to advance classic menswear references with innovative materials and fits, ts(s) by Suzuki remains true to its approach, achieving steady success season after season. Drawing inspiration from the 60s to the 90s, including prep tailoring and purely utilitarian garments, ts(s) develops fabrics from scratch with some of Japan’s top mills to create something original.
Each piece demonstrates that there is no such thing as original thought, only the creative expression of how it is applied. From garment-dyed and printed proprietary camouflage to the best example of a paneled crazy shirt and signature sports jacketing in vibrant fabrics, this is one of the most delightful collections of the unexpected for spring we’ve seen.
