Description

The Lot. 330 Melange Charcoal Kemonogasuri Cotton Twill US Letter Carrier Jacket from Taiga Takahashi T.T is inspired by mail carrier uniforms of the 1950s-60s, refashioned from the WWII officer jacket popularized by Eisenhower. This Letter Carrier Jacket is crafted from a 12 oz. Gabardine Twill Cloth developed and loomed exclusively for T.T in Japan, using 100% Cotton Kemonogasuri yarns and specialized techniques to produce a luxurious, soft, hairy finish with structured drape and durability. Reimagined from yesteryear with refinement, the complicated melange is achieved with high-twist yarns dyed charcoal, grey, beige, and white, woven as gabardine twill for a suiting-level cloth with unique tones that will evolve with the wearer. Guided by the Applied Archaeology ethos and the Taiga Takahashi archives, this piece resurrects a relic of the past to serve as an artifact of the future, blending aesthetic principles rooted in Japanese concepts of craftsmanship and beauty. Paying homage to the antique original, the Carrier Jacket combines military and utilitarian detailing in a tailored directional fit with articulated set-in sleeves, a point collar, an uncoated iron zipped front closure, front-to-back shoulder patches, a pleated back hem with buttoned tabs, and period-correct buttoned flap pleated patch front pockets with a concealed pencil slot. Innovating designs from the past using old-world techniques with exquisite precision, the Lot. 330 Jacket is made with a Japanese rayon-cotton lining for the body and sleeves, natural-dyed corozo buttons, single and double-needle construction, and bartack reinforcements. Step into the future with a timeless vision of the past with Taiga Takahashi.

    Collection: Taiga Takahashi T.T

Through the lens of Applied Archaeology, Taiga Takahashi, known as T.T by cult-collectors, meticulously studies the garments worn by workers and everyday people who contributed to America's growth in the late 19th century, and how these clothes related to their life and duties, seeking to understand the essence of their daily existence. Approaching craftsmanship with a deep connection to history and techniques lost to mass production and consumption, T.T handcrafts garments in traditional methods to be functional time capsules.
