The Lot. 306 Melange Charcoal Wool Serge Twill Cossack Jacket from Taiga Takahashi T.T is inspired by motorcycle and automobile jackets from the 1930s, iconic as casual wear in New York during the depression and bootlegging years. This Cossack Jacket is crafted from an exclusively developed 14 oz. Serge Twill Tweed developed and loomed exclusively for T.T in Japan, using pure long-staple 100% Virgin Wool for a combination of natural elasticity, texture, and durability. Reimagined from yesteryear with refinement, the speckled melange is achieved with high-twist yarns dyed black and grey and woven in a twill for a suiting-level cloth with a luxurious texture and drape. Guided by the Applied Archaeology ethos and Taiga Takahashi’s archives, this piece resurrects a relic of the past to serve as a future artifact, blending aesthetic principles rooted in Japanese concepts of craftsmanship and beauty. Paying homage to the antique original, the Cossack Jacket combines fits and elements from flight and riding jackets with a tailored directional fit with set-in articulated sleeves that roll forward, gusseted side cinch buckle tabs, a point collar, and an uncoated iron zipper front closure, along with slant welt lower hand pockets, a welted interior chest pocket, and articulated adjustable corozo button cuffs. Innovating designs from the past using old-world techniques executed with exquisite precision, the Lot. 306 Jacket is made with a Japanese cotton jacquard body lining and rayon/cotton-lined sleeves, featuring single and double-needle construction, felled seams, and bartack reinforcements.
