Description

The Swiss Army Cargo Trouser by MotivMfg x Division Road is a high rise, single pleated pant with a roomy and relaxed top block and thigh that tapers to a moderate hem for a perfectly balanced, modern take on mid-20th century Swiss and German military and aeronautical utility pants, designed to be an inspirational piece in the original gentleman's wardrobe. This trouser is made from a 12 oz. Coal Twill Woolen Cloth milled by the storied Abraham Moon® using fine 100% British Lambswool Merino wool in a directional pattern with a brushed flannel finish to produce an amazingly durable fabric with immense drape and comfort. One of the few remaining vertical mills, Moon produces this special twill with the first shear of their own Merino sheep for a soft and hearty fiber that's spun into lightly dyed yarns and woven to create a subtle texture and tonality with a charcoal and black speckled palette. Paying homage to the original in a piece perfect for reconnoissance in the city or trekking the outdoors in all-day comfort amidst various climates, this trouser is designed with a single pleat for an optimal fit with drape, featuring an adjustable waistband with an ingenious tab button front and concealed elastic back, completed with a zipped fly and top button front. These Swiss Army Cargo Trousers are finished with a full lining in cotton twill and design-focused utilitarian pocketing including concealed button closures on the gusseted and angled side cargo pockets and patch back pocket, paired with slant front pockets for all the tools and accompaniments one needs. Finally, this pant is packed with superior bespoke and old-world detailing like an articulated back yoke and legs, cotton ripstop pocket bags and interior trim, felled seams and bartack reinforcements throughout, a finished tailors hem for easy inseam alterations, and genuine horn buttons with a unique vintage finish. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment, one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the west. We are honored to partner with MotivMfg to offer completely exclusive collaborations for a new and timeless uniform for the Division Road Army.

About MotivMfg

Created in Beijing by Daniel Gu, designer from a three-generation tailoring family, and Samuel Wei, a pioneering heritage retailer, MotivMfg seeks to break down the duality between handmade and machine-made clothing and to create garments stemmed from pre-industrial production methods, which are designed in a way that relates to present day. Based in a Beijing loft of a former factory built in the 1950s, all developments from sketch to garment are done within the MotivMfg studio. Using European tailoring methods...
