Description

The French Work Trouser by MotivMfg x Division Road is a high rise, single pleated pant with a roomy top block and thigh that tapers to a moderate hem and a clean break for a tailored, modern take on straight leg workwear trousers from the early 20th century. This trouser is produced from an exclusive fabric development between MotivMfg and the finest narrow shuttle looming denim mill in China. The 16 oz. Donegal Selvedge Denim uses various shades of sulfur-dyed black warp, grey weft, and slubby brown core yarns to create a textured, tweed-like twill weave in a 100% Cotton denim. This MotivMfg selvedge denim has undergone a molleton finishing process, has been brushed on the interior to create a flannel feel, and is washed to provide a crispy structured drape that will mold to the body. This fabric will evolve beautifully through heavy wear as the black yarns fade to grey and combine with the brown core yarns for dressy denim with warmth and pronounced character. Paying homage to the originals with sophisticated finishing, this trouser is designed with a single knife pleat for optimal fit and drape. It is given a clean button front with large tacked belt loops that serve as vintage elements with modern refinement. The French Work Trouser is packed with superior bespoke and old-world detailing like slant front pockets, workwear-inspired patch back pockets, a darted back yoke, zigzag bartack reinforcements throughout, and custom cast riveted gunmetal buttons. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment, one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the West. We are honored to partner with MotivMfg to offer exclusive collaborations for a new and timeless uniform for the Division Road Army.

Collection: MotivMfg

Created in Beijing by Daniel Gu and Samuel Wei in 2016, MotivMfg seeks to break down the duality between handmade and machine-made clothing. Based in the converted loft of a former 1950's factory, all developments, from sketch to garment, are done within the MotivMfg studio. Using European tailoring methods dating back to the 1920’s, all patterns are hand drafted then implemented with drape and baste fittings on real life models, ensuring the spontaneity of creativity.
