The French Air Force Zephyr Jacket by MotivMfg x Division Road is designed as a meeting point between vintage French Air Force flight and motorcycle jackets to present a tailored outerwear piece made for the future. This jacket is derived from WWII French aviator pieces infused with elements of motorcycle dispatch coats from the 1920s-30s, recreated in an anatomically tailored fit. Articulated set-in sleeves and a fully pleated back finished with a curved adjustable tab waist provide a clean, tailored fit with full mobility in a cut perfectly balanced between vintage and contemporary. This jacket is made with a custom vegetable-tanned recipe using French Lambskins glazed with waxes to create a smooth satin finish with a color-rich and grain-heavy aesthetic. These flexible and durable full-weight lambskins will evolve over a lifetime with a dramatically layered patina of color and finish. This Zephyr Lambskin Jacket has an architecturally designed two-way asymmetrical zipped front with a notch collar and rolling lapel that transitions to a storm flap with snap closure and is half lined in the body with a Cotton twill combined with Bemberg lined sleeves for a finely finished garment with considered detailing elevated for function and style. Paying homage to the originals with sophistication, this jacket has perfectly proportioned and shaped pocketing with an oversized dispatch-inspired gusseted snap-flap patch pocket and lower welted hand pockets and is completed with adjustable snap-tab pleated cuffs. This piece is packed with superior bespoke and old-world detailing like a curved hem, zigzag back collar stitching, felled and trimmed seams, custom military-spec zinc snaps, and a nickel zipper with a unique vintage matte finish. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the West.
