The Lot. 506 Brown Silk Noil DB Cardigan from Taiga Takahashi T.T draws inspiration from a 1910 image of factory workers in the U.S. wearing a double-breasted cardigan, which was more commonly seen in France. This DB cardigan is a medium-weight, cardigan stitch knit from 100% Raw Silk Noil, made from short staple fibers harvested from wild silkworm cocoons. Reimagined from yesteryear with refinement, this knit was exclusively developed for T.T to achieve a drape and texture replicating cotton, with a matte finish and increased durability. Guided by the Applied Archaeology ethos and Taiga Takahashi’s archives, this piece resurrects a relic of the past to serve as an artifact of the future by blending aesthetic principles rooted in Japanese concepts of craftsmanship and beauty. Paying homage to the antique original, the DB Cardigan features a directional shorter body and tailoring elements to fit with set-in sleeves, a banded collar, a loop yarn knit double-breasted front placket, seamless, high-set knit welted pockets, and an elongated half-cardigan knit ribbed hem and cuffs.
