Step forward with a timeless vision of the past with Taiga Takahashi.

The story of this label is worth telling from the jump, and starts at Central Saint Martins, a well-known institution in the fashion world. Taiga Takahashi graduated in 2017 and headed to New York to continue his collection and documentation of American vintage garments from the 1920s through the 50s, especially from the pre-mass production era, which already numbered in the thousands.

This began Applied Archeology, a project where Takahashi treated these garments as relics from the past, recording their source, production methods, and purpose driven by the day's lifestyle. He established his namesake brand, T.T., creating clothing to resemble a time capsule of garments to last 100 years into the future. T.T employs the finest traditional Japanese techniques in weaving, dyeing, sewing, and use of purely natural materials, which are increasingly rare.

Using these old-world techniques like natural dyeing by hand, which has been practiced for over 1,000 years, along with a few remaining old power looms, the brand pursues its craftsmanship in dialogue with those who have inherited and continue these techniques. Believing the true value of craftsmanship exists in history, the fabrics, sewing, and details of garments that have survived through time are researched from an archaeological perspective, reinterpreted in a new way, and brought back to life in the modern age.

In April 2022, at age 27, Taiga Takahashi faced his mortality. His legacy has been carried forward in the concepts and creativity of the team that supported him during his life and continues to be passed down. The unwavering passion for creation is the source of T.T.

There is a blank space that fills the heart. In this space between object and air, the world is information. Traced by fingertips, excavated by imagination.

I always wanted to create something new, but now, newness is tirelessly consumed and sinks into the depths of time.

On a forgotten hillside, stone moss, limbs of ancient trees speak quietly of a distant past.

I went fishing in the rapid flow of time to collect the receding images.

The hands that dyed the cloth, the feet that moved the loom.

The past is suspended in the mesh of the present.

Backwards and forwards.
