Description

The White's x Division Road C.F. Stead Snuff Waxed Kudu 853 Chukka HSC is an exclusive hand-sewn, stitchdown pattern that pays homage to the late WWII Desert Boot in a modern design that offers a versatile, medium-weight construction suitable for both work and contemporary lifestyle applications. This Chukka features a two-piece pattern with a stitched-in counter pocket, completed with a backstay and leather pull-loop for a clean composition that will offer daily duty, from the office to outdoor excursions. This White's collaboration uses a Division Road sourced Snuff Waxed Kudu, produced by the storied C.F. Stead, renowned for crafting some of the finest leathers in the world. This leather is an aniline-dyed combination re-tannage using hand-selected wild African Kudu antelope hides that are remarkably flexible, strong, and exhibit distinct grain characteristics, enhanced with a subtle wax application that yields a matte finish with pull-up qualities and an added layer of protection. This Chukka boot has been designed in collaboration with Master Shoemaker and now CEO, Eric Kinney, showcasing the quintessentially Northwest multi-paneled upper that allows for comprehensive rebuilds and pairs with White's exclusive stitchdown construction tradition, utilizing their unique hand-sewn and all-leather builds, all refined with our functional design approach that honors original craftsmanship, history, and lifetime durability with a fresh perspective. The open collar design of this Chukka is complemented by the Northwest Last in an D width for a gripped fit with moderate volume, and a classic, elegant round toe shape that accommodates a wide variety of feet. A lower heel equipped with the trademark Arch-Ease leather shank support offers a more approachable break-in to this fully functional style. We have exclusively enhanced White's hand-sewn welted methods with a tonally corresponding Natural CXL welt that matches the natural finished leather midsole, resting atop a Vibram 2060 industrial walking sole for all-purpose trekking comfort. This is combined with full hand-sewn stitchdown construction to ensure stability and a traditional aesthetic for the long haul. Finally, this exclusive Chukka boot features oxidized eyelets, a custom White's collar stamp, and a WB x DR collaboration insole stamp. Made as a hallmark of White's unaltered, hand-sewn traditions and customized to Division Road specifications, this 853 Chukka HSC has a polished aesthetic suited for urban environments, built to withstand all outdoor conditions.

    Notes

This is a hand-sewn, hand-welted stitchdown workwear boot made to withstand a lifetime in challenging conditions, with a focus on durability first. Irregularity is indicative of this rare boot-making process, and as such, each pair is unique. We suggest our customers embrace the character, hand-grade details, and variation of this footwear, as that is what makes it special. This product is not for those seeking a highly refined or lighter-weight build. For more information on White's production, see our White's Factory Tour.

    Sizing

White's sizing is consistent with our old-grade manufacturers and the Northwest Last typically is equal to a White's 55 Last, Viberg or Tricker's for most feet. Generally, when sizing for White's, we suggest you select a half (.5) size down from a common US boot like Red Wing or Alden, or one-and-a-half (1.5) sizes down from a common US sneaker like Nike or New Balance. Please feel free to Contact Us for assistance.

Our Sizing Guide provides brand-specific Sizing and Last information. For comprehensive information on our footwear, how this product type should fit, and Sizing and Last information on all brands, consult our Footwear Guide.

    Collection: White's

The White’s legacy began in 1853 when Edward White created a solo boot making venture in pre-Civil War Connecticut shoeing loggers and soldiers. In 1910, John’s son Otto grew the family business into the White Shoe Company based in Spokane, Washington. The White family built a reputation for producing...
