The Tricker's x Division Road Super Monkey Boot is an exclusive pattern developed in collaboration with the definitive maker of English Country footwear, using Badalassi Carlo's premium, hard-wearing, full-weight Nero and Bone Vachetta Minerva leather for the upper, paired with a natural leather Flexi-Welt and a Vibram Morflex Christy sole to create a new classic. This Division Road exclusive style features a two-tone design in these vegetable-tanned Minerva articles, designed to evolve with the quarter and counter in drum-dyed Nero and the undyed Bone for the toe and tongue. Featuring Badalassi Carlo Tannery’s famous Minerva Vachetta recipe of hand-selected cow shoulders with a clean, firm grain, tanned in Italy using an environmentally friendly process with vegetable tannins and bark extracts. It is a full-aniline, drum-dyed, and hand-stuffed leather with an exclusive Italian fat-wax ingredient, left in a natural crust state so the waxes self-burnish through wear, resulting in an unmatched, rich patina with tonal color changes as the finish evolves from the original matte to a semi-gloss in areas of wear. The Monkey Boot was initially designed pre-WWII as a general lace-to-toe pattern with various military-issue applications, from training footwear to infantry service boots. Popularized by mod, punk, and ska-style cultures, with original examples appearing in army surplus stores from the 1950s through the 1970s, Tricker's redesigned their version based on vintage boots found and adopted by these alternative British music and style scenes. This exclusive Division Road pattern has been adapted for the new style era with a higher quarter, vintage-white upper stitching, and additional brass eyelets. It is stripped of all its detailing to closely replicate the original while adopting a more modern, street-casual aesthetic. The Super Monkey Boot's contemporary silhouette is achieved with the 5402R Last, which features an urban dress shape and a rounded toe that accommodates a variety of foot types. Further evolving the design into a lightweight, comfortable, daily-style piece, we used Tricker's Flexi-Welt construction, an iteration of a natural leather reverse welt that connects to the exterior of the upper, allowing for a lighter insole and a cork fill to increase comfort and expedite the break-in process. Paired with the featherweight, European-made Vibram Morflex Christy sole in black, this simple backstage-to-blacktop-focused super boot combines hand-grade build quality with a modern streetwear form. This boot has undergone 260 individual steps, in which craftspeople use a mulling concoction to infuse the uppers with oils, a wooden shank, a corking compound from a century-old recipe, and exquisite English finishing. As England's oldest shoemaker, Royal Warrant holder, originator of the country boot, and one of the first and few still utilizing traditional Goodyear welting to the highest standards of quality in the industry, a Tricker's truly is made to last a lifetime in all conditions.
