This jean is made with natural indigo in the acclaimed SDA 100 series fabric, an excellent all-purpose 15 oz. unsanforized Japanese Selvedge denim produced on one of Japan’s most notable shuttle looms, and a brand signature. This all-season fabric has a medium tension, slight slub, and a silver cast that has a consistent and crisp structure that, when broken in, yields remarkable comfort along with higher contrast fading patterns. Dyeing using the Indigofera plant is a 3,000-year-old tradition, introduced to China and later Japan in the 8th century Nara period, where the same plant cultivation and natural indigo pigment are still used for the warp, giving a warm vintage blue that will fade and contrast to a white weft.
