The Studio D’Artisan SD-108 is a Relaxed Tapered fit with a true high rise, featuring a roomy seat and thigh with a strongly tapered leg and a narrow hem. This jean is made with the acclaimed SDA 100 series fabric, an excellent all-purpose 15 oz. unsanforized Japanese Selvedge denim produced on one of Japan’s most notable shuttle looms and a signature of the brand. This all-season fabric has a medium tension, slight slub, and a silver cast that has a consistent and crisp structure that, when broken in, yields remarkable comfort along with deep, higher contrast fading patterns. Made in SDA’s newest Relaxed Tapered fit, this jean is adapted from their signature 107 to have a higher rise, wider thigh, and more drastic taper to the leg to accommodate thicker calves while maintaining a narrower hem. The result is a great fit that works for a wide variety of body types with a silhouette that combines vintage styling with modern sensibilities, in a shrink-to-fit fabric that will form to the body after the first wash or soak. Topped off with signature Studio D’Artisan touches like the painted goat skin leather patch, duck canvas pocket bags, embossed copper riveting, a nickel plated brass button fly, and a chainstitched waist, seat, and hem, these jeans are your first step on a journey into the past by way of present styles, transported to you by a standout 40-year-old producer of heritage denim.

The Studio D'Artisan SD-108 is an unsanforized, “Shrink-to-Fit” denim, and we suggest sizing down roughly 0-1 size from your Actual Waist Measurement (Body). Our rule for yielding the best sizing result with unsanforized denim is: Use Our Method to compare your best fitting denim, find the closest match in waist, and then purchase the next size up to account for the natural shrinkage (roughly 1.5” in the Waist and 2” in Length) from the cold soak/rinse process before wearing.
