Description

The Archive Check Indian Madras Button Down in Brown from Gitman Vintage is made from a warm-weather 3 oz. lightweight 100% Cotton cloth hand-loomed in Madras, India, using dyed slub yarns for a subtle texture and an innovative take on an archival pattern with a fresh palette. The Madras fabric was popularized during the 1960s with Ivy style, known for its natural color evolutions that create a worn-in casual look that will become softer and perfectly faded with repeated wear and washing. It includes Gitman's original details, like the signature button-down collar, chalk buttons, a locker loop, and a final horizontal buttonhole in green thread. This shirt is produced in the modern tailored fit with a moderate hem sweep that styles well tucked or untucked and an adapted straight cut "just right" for most body types. Gitman Vintage shirts are classic, simple, original, and have a casual sophistication, making them a standard wardrobe piece for many well-dressed men.

With his two sons, Alfred and Sheldon, he ran the factory as a contract shop until 1978 when the Gitman Bros. brand was born.
