Description

The Viberg Asphalt Vachetta Horsebutt Navvy Boot is inspired by derby boot patterns from the early 20th century when industrial shoemaking was at its peak in England and North America. This pattern is designed for effortless styling with a two-piece upper and a closed eyestay to quarter stitch for subtly enhanced detail on a cleanly configured, fully functional boot. This Viberg limited edition uses a small batch of Asphalt Horsebutt from Maryam Tannery that's vegetable-tanned to maintain the natural feel and unique grain character of the horsebutt hides. Heavily stuffed with vegetable tannins and drum dyed to a warm charcoal brown, this horsebutt will evolve with a rich, burnished patina that will correspond with any ensemble. The densely structured, full-weight horsebutt hides are kept as natural as possible and rolled with lanolin oil to enhance the subtle shell-like shine and promote flexibility and comfort. Molded on the Navy issue 1940 Last to provide an anatomical military-dress silhouette, this boot is fully lined with French Binding and complemented with blind eyelets and caramel speed hooks, a natural leather storm welt with a scalloped edge, and a natural leather midsole, all atop a British-made Ridgeway sole to provide lug traction in a discerning design with rugged applications. Setting the bar even higher, this boot leverages Goodyear welting using traditional techniques coupled with channeled insoles produced by Viberg's exacting craftspeople, resulting in a lifetime piece that will withstand the elements in a distinctive style and evolve for the modern-leaning and vintage-inspired alike.
