Description

The Viberg Desert Sand Waxy Commander Chelsea Boot is a Victorian-era style that has evolved over the centuries. The perfected version from the Viberg collection gives a nod to the 60s mod scene and contemporary fashions. After several variations in development, acquiring specialty machinery, and instituting new production techniques, Viberg created the exceptional high Chelsea whole-cut upper pattern with a formed shaft to set their version apart as a more functional boot for the outdoors while maintaining a level of refinement absent in other renditions. This limited-production Viberg seasonal edition leverages Waxy Commander leather — tanned in the UK by the storied C.F. Stead, known for making some of the finest waxed animal hides and suedes in the world. This suede recipe uses tightened and shrunk double-butt calf hides on the flesh side that are sanded to a mild nap and then waxed in the tanning process to yield a refined, casual material with robust performance in the outdoors. This leather was developed to age gracefully and conform to the foot with precision and comfort, with a subtle pull-up patina to create variation in color and texture as the suede reveals through the waxed finish. The new Chelsea 2030 Last maintains the riding boot silhouette while proving a more accommodating fit with a military-dress disposition. This Chelsea comes countryside-ready with tonal specifications throughout, including a sand elastic gusset and color-corresponding fabric front and back pull loops, a natural leather storm welt with a scalloped edge, and a natural leather midsole, all atop a British-made Ridgeway sole to provide lug traction in a discerning design with rugged applications. Setting the bar even higher, this boot leverages Goodyear welting using traditional techniques coupled with channeled insoles produced by Viberg's exacting craftspeople, resulting in a lifetime piece that will withstand the elements in a distinctive style and evolve for the modern-leaning and vintage-inspired alike.

Sizing

Viberg sizing is consistent with our old-grade manufacturers, and the 2030 Last is frequently equal to a Tricker’s or White’s for most feet. As a general rule when sizing for Viberg, we suggest you select a half (.5) size down from a common US boot like Red Wing or Alden, or one-and-a-half (1.5) sizes down from a common US sneaker like Nike or New Balance. The Wholecut 2030 Chelsea does fit marginally larger than a normal 2030 Lasted boot or shoe. Consider taking the smaller size of your range in Viberg, or taking a half (.5) size down from your typical Viberg size. Please feel free to Contact Us for assistance.
