Description

The Samurai S500AX Ai Plus Benkei Natural Indigo is a Regular Straight tapered fit with a mid-high rise, roomy seat, and broad thigh that gently tapers through the leg to a moderate hem. This jean is crafted from factory-washed and sun-dried unsanforized 18 oz. Japanese Selvedge Denim, which is produced exclusively for Samurai on vintage shuttle looms that operate at extremely low speeds and require hand operation. This Ai-Benkei denim features a thick, twisted #5 slub yarn spun with natural and synthetic rope-dyed indigo for the warp and a white weft, loomed at medium tension with irregularities and a rough texture reminiscent of denim from yesteryear. This textured denim will soften quickly, developing a structured drape and vintage fade patterns. This denim is uniquely made from a blend of American and Organic Japanese Cotton, re-established by the Samurai Cotton Project in Hyogo Prefecture, using an ancient native cotton strain and hand-cultivation techniques. Constructed in Samurai's Regular Straight style, this modern interpretation of a classic silhouette features a tailored straight cut that accommodates all body types comfortably while molding to a personalized fit over time. Assembled with specialty Samurai warrior iconography throughout, including an indigo blue woven selvedge line, a commemorative embossed indigo dyed cowhide leather patch, printed heavy-duty woven twill pocket bags, a decorative taiko drum iron cast button fly, embossed copper riveting, and hidden back rivets, this jean is constructed with a chainstitched waist, seat, and hem, with bartack reinforcements throughout. Representing one of the most collectible Japanese producers that continues to innovate through intensive old-world techniques, these Samurai jeans celebrate exclusive material developments, precise craftsmanship, and thoughtful design in every element, creating a unity of garment and wearer.

Collection: Samurai

Samurai Jeans was established by Tohru Nogami in 1998 in the center of Osaka, where Amerika-mura was in full swing. In a little vintage clothing shop, right in the middle of this booming epicenter of creativity reinterpreting American music and fashion culture, Samurai was born based on the concept they could create garments no one else could. For over 25 years, Nogami has worked intensely on that mission by developing unique fabrics with vintage shuttle looms, creating iconic fits, and...
