Description

The Merz b. Schwanen x Dehen 1920 Pilot Jacket is crafted from a Deep Black 12 oz. Dry Waxed Herringbone produced by Halley Stevensons® for a substantial, weather-resistant, and versatile all-season piece. Sourced from the Scottish mill renowned for its innovations in waxed canvas, this waterproof 100% Cotton fabric features a textured herringbone twill weave that has been brushed and finished with a matte dry wax for weather resistance and durability in a crisp cloth that will develop a personalized patina and conform to the body through years of wear. A recent Dehen design, the Pilot Jacket is inspired by Navy flight bombers introduced in WWII to pay homage to Bill Dehen's military service and offers a clean, stylistically versatile, and perfectly proportioned design enhanced with a high-grade waxed cloth. This Merz b. Schwanen iteration of Dehen's hand-crafted outerwear is elevated with slant welt front pockets, an interior welt chest pocket, and a military-grade two-way matte-black zipper front with a collaboration chainstitched Dehen & Merz b. Schwanen script on the interior storm placket. This piece is fully finished with a deadstock Japanese rayon satin lining in the body and sleeves, plus a tonal worsted-wool ribbed-knit stand collar, hem, and cuffs, all made with Dehen's own 1940s weaving machines. This Merz b. Schwanen x Dehen 1920 Waxed Herringbone Pilot Jacket is an outerwear garment informed by the past and built for adventures ahead, ready for daily duty downtown or on deck.

    Collection: Merz b. Schwanen

Starting with a 90-year-old Henley discovered at a Berlin flea market, fashion designers Gitta and Peter Plotnicki immediately recognized the quality of this impeccably preserved workwear shirt from 1911. Tracing the Henley’s provenance took the pair to Germany’s Swabian Alps, once a vibrant textile manufacturing center. This journey led them to uncover an abandoned factory with rows of towering, authentic loopwheelers dating from 1889 to the 1960s. This original Henley, produced by this collection of Albstadt machines, contributed to the...
