Collaborations and Releases with Nicks Handmade Boots, Join or Die, and Freenote Cloth
This week, we have a very special release featuring goods designed for daily use and made with true artisan craftsmanship. It includes a curated selection of exceptional Freenote cloth shirts and jackets, complemented by collaborations with Nicks Boots for the everyday man and Join or Die for the everyday carry. The Division Road philosophy is that the items we live with should be inherently special and built to last. Whether subtly or overtly reflecting that quality, or appealing to minimalists or collectors, all these goods are pieces we’ll be inspired to live with every day.
Join or Die x Division Road
Brent Stubblefield and his artisan workshop have delivered another sharp series of knives, along with a restock of our first-edition everyday carry collection. The Fields Artisan series returns with the White Oak Damascus Fieldmate and Stainless Steel Explorer. A new edition of our fallen, air-dried, and cured Red Oak reimagines the color with a special charcoal submersion dye that deepens the hue and provides a silky matte finish. For this collection, the Explorer features an in-house forged 120-layer Damascus blade, handmade from 15N20 Nickel Steel and 1084 High Carbon Steel, with each piece displaying a unique pattern. For a function-first piece, the Fieldmate is made from Nitro-V Stainless Steel with a polished finish that contrasts with the matte handle.
As with all makers we work with, each piece features exclusive Division Road specifications. From the handmade, custom-branded sheaths crafted with Wickett & Craig vegetable-tanned traditional harness leather in Buck Brown, to our brass and stainless mosaic pin motifs, laser-engraved faces, and black and ivory G-10 liners, each element reflects the careful consideration of Division Road, handcrafted by Virginia’s finest. Using fallen and milled White and Red Oak hardwoods from The Fields embodies the land for spirited use in the wild. Whether for full utility or display, a JOD x DR reflects the value of quality, care, and consideration we all seek in our accompaniments.
Nicks Handmade Boots x Division Road
After much ado, we are excited to introduce what we believe will become a lasting classic: the Everyday Man collaboration with Nicks, featuring a limited batch of Italian Brown Cypress leather tanned by Horween. Designed for everyday style with roots in work and military boots, our Everyday Man is a 6-inch pattern crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Our custom upper stitching includes an evenly spaced quad-stitch cap toe, coordinated quad quarter stitching, and a triple-stitched, single continuous counter. This precise detailing is complemented by a natural midsole and heel with a beeswax finish, giving it a raw appearance that matches the rare Dr. Sole Urban Explorer sole, which features a foot and heel lug tread integrated into a full natural leather sole.
For this introductory limited edition, we used a small dye lot of Italian Brown Cypress, showcasing the ideal deep chestnut brown shade for versatility and high and low color and finish development. Cypress has quickly become a preferred tannage among collectors due to its balanced grain character and reliability, and notable patina potential. As an evolution of Horween’s signature vegetable-tan Dublin work boot recipe, Cypress shares similar qualities, with a more balanced grain, deeper pull-up, and a more uniform waxed finish that is applied and hardened during tanning.
Using the same vegetable-tanned recipe ingredients and processes as Cordovan, this leather provides a rustic yet refined appearance and is eager to be broken in with heavy use. The design is finished with tonally coordinated antique eyelets, a brown full-gusset tongue, and Nicks x DR false tongues, creating a footwear foundation that communicates considered craft with a hard-edge sensibility.
Freenote Cloth
As spring begins, this Freenote Cloth collection bridges the climate gaps from warm, lively tropical days to cool, breezy seaside evenings. A new version of the Mariner Light features the striking woven whipcord Jungle Cloth, dyed with indigo and stone-washed to achieve a vibrant medium blue hue that appears weathered and retains richer tonal variations. Coming correct and crisp for a variety of style profiles, is the signature Classic Jacket as a fresh take on the Type III Trucker, elevated with enhanced details. It’s made from raw, unsinged selvedge denim loomed in Japan by Kaihara Mills, with a slight slub yarn and a consistently hairy finish to encourage natural break-in and vintage-style fades.
Two vintage-inspired plaid shirts showcase bold yet versatile palettes that evoke the West. Made from medium-weight twills, they are durable and suitable for all seasons, easily pairing with a wide range of ensembles. Yarn-dyed with a woven texture in the patterns, the Aloe Green Plaid Wells and Brown Plaid Western Scout are as distinctive as they are practical. For warm-weather staples that provide a luxurious drape and finish, Freenote introduces two Hoffman fabric Rayon Poplin Camp shirts, printed with archive themes in refreshed palettes—two cool pieces perfect for the heat.
