Description

The Chestnut Wool Herringbone Twill Stanford Reversible Coat by Fortela is inspired by balmacaan overcoats, which were introduced as countryside tailoring in the late 1800s in Scotland and remain iconic in a gentleman's wardrobe, produced in a refined fit and high-quality fabric. This coat features the same design on both sides, utilizing Manteco® cloths to offer two distinct options with a structured drape and classic vintage appeal. A medium-weight Chestnut Herringbone Twill is crafted from mulesing-free Pure Virgin Wool, woven with chestnut, olive, and espresso yarns to create a textured pattern. It is lightly brushed to achieve a soft, flannel-like finish, resulting in a durable and character-rich woolen fabric. The Khaki Gabardine Twill uses fine Cotton yarns in a tightly woven twill for enhanced water and wind resistance, complemented by a casual semi-sheen finish that is a hallmark of luxury overcoats. This garment is suited for any new-classic enthusiast with an improved aesthetic and detailing in an authentic up-production inspired by the timeless original, known for its uniform dress functionality. Derived from Alessandro Squarzi's renowned archives, it features signature elements such as a single-breasted button-front and elongated point collar, darted raglan sleeves for a drape-focused fit, wide welt lower hand pockets with a button closure, and adjustable tab-button cuffs. Drawing inspiration from heritage workshop productions and evolving vintage styles, this classically designed jacket is cleanly finished on both sides and is complemented with horn buttons, as well as felled seams throughout. The Chestnut Herringbone Wool and Khaki Cotton Twill Stanford Coat will become that style-forward heritage hallmark informed by tailoring and workwear with a modern fit, designed for the man who balances his current fashion with old-world provenance.
