The De Bonne Facture x Marcel Lassance Redingote Coat in Coffee Brown Italian Wool Ratine Cloth is a limited edition collaboration with an inspiring mentor to DBF. The Redingote is based on a personal vintage coachman coat of Marcel Lassance's, which he wore in the 90s and later donated to charity. Rediscovered on the Parisian streets being worn by the current owner, Marcel borrowed the piece and took it directly to Déborah Neuberg for re-patterning and editing for a contemporary rendition. With a focus on sustainability and connecting the garment to the landscape, this Redingote Coat is crafted from an 18 oz. Italian Ratine Cloth milled using mulesing-free Virgin Wool. To create a vintage aesthetic with a pure provenance, De Bonne Facture utilized this brushed Ratine that provides insulation and drape as a durable cloth with a tufted pile and an elegantly casual aesthetic. With a minimalist design approach inspired by vintage fashion, each element carries thematic consistency and purpose with details like a double-breasted buttoned front for a business-casual aesthetic, a peak collar and a rolling top button for various conditions of fall through spring, set-in sleeves for a comfortable tailored silhouette, and is lined in a cotton/viscose blend for a finished garment with a comfortably aged appeal. Paying homage to the original coachman coat with sophistication, this piece has reinforced elbow patches, a high back pleat, and a back half belt for high-style mobility, perfectly placed lower flap patch pockets, two interior chest pockets for devices and keepsakes, high character genuine horn buttons, and tailor's construction with taped seams. Being atelier made in Pantin, France, by outerwear specialist M. Erbas provides the soul of fine regional craftsmanship.
