Collaborations and Releases with Viberg, Dehen 1920, Gitman Vintage, Iron Heart, and Momotaro
This week, we have a story about the decades-long connection between Japanese and American heritage inspirations and productions that created an ongoing style and quality revival. This East-West link has generated some of the world’s best menswear. New heritage actually is made better than yesteryear due to developments in materials and precision manufacturing in Japan — factors which have trickled back to North America and Europe — reestablishing classic vintage style in ways that inspire our wardrobes and modes of self-expression.
This sizeable collection of collaborations and releases reference one another with the common thread of East-meets-West heritage. We’re featuring two new Viberg x Division Road classics using Shinki Horsehide, while Dehen 1920 outerwear pieces evoke the Ivy Style vibe, Gitman Vintage comes with a consistent palette and an intriguing take on patterns using exclusive Japanese milled cloths, and both Iron Heart and Momotaro bring us best-in-class denim and workwear-inspired garments made in Japan.
Viberg x Division Road
Continuing the collectable Viberg x Division Road footwear, we have two new collaborations showcasing Japan’s most famous (for a reason) Shinki tannery, known for their precision horsehide selections, vegetable tanning methods, complex recipes, and hand finishing techniques that preserve and enhance the natural character of the leathers.
The Black Latigo Horsehide Chelsea comes with a high wholecut pattern formed on the new Chelsea 2030 Last, with murdered-out detailing from pull loop to storm welt and a Ridgeway sole for a style that crosses categories from military to moto and directional fashion with enthusiastic ease.
The Cognac Latigo Horsehide Service Boot formed on the signature military-dress 2030 Last is given clean and simple detailing to allow a brilliant patina to evolve on this gold-toned brown leather, along with a natural midsole and a Ridgeway sole for a best-in-craft daily boot with function and styling versatility.
Dehen 1920
From our captain of campus originals, we have two collection outerwear pieces that underscore Japan’s style take on timeless American prep and sportswear classics from the 60’s, pushed forward with palette, production, and fit improvements for the modern wardrobe. The Black Melton and Rust Letterman has a vintage 80’s persona with All the Right Moves, redone in a contemporary color and material combination with an all-season weight and configuration. Gitman Vintage
One core component of Gitman Vintage is the re-creation of decades-past fabrics from the archives using a partner mill in Japan to yield some of the finest shirting materials in the world with a vintage-forward vibe. Loomed in Japan using combed cotton yarns, we bring you an Olive and Blue Shaggy Check with a deconstructed overcheck pattern fabricated as a twill with a brushed flannel finish — it' a fresh take on a 70’s outdoorsman plaid and will be your comfortable go-to. Then, we have a rare shirting-weight Japanese Moleskin constructed with a varied scale Dot pattern in olive and black and produced on a Jacquard machine to render a soft, durable, and directional button down in a classic palette, perfect for those cool-style guys wanting an American-made staple.
Iron Heart
From our famed producer that takes workwear durability to the next level, we have a prime cache of Iron Heart pieces from basics to outerwear — so well-refined in fit and construction techniques, they’re better than the originals. Rounding out the remarkable collective is Momotaro, one of Japan’s best vertical producers of proprietary selvedge denim created in the most precise, modern-leaning fits. We bring you a full restock on our favorite slub — the US Revival Cotton denim using US-Grown long-staple organic cotton that’s deeply indigo dyed and woven into a low-tension denim that will soften over time with a structured drape, resulting in irregular vintage-styled fades in the 0605 Natural Tapered and 0405 High Tapered fits. For immediate comfort yet with the denim purist in mind, we have the new 14.7 oz.
