Collaborations with Freenote Cloth and EasyMoc
This week, we have some super special editions with an enriched point of view reinforced by upgraded components. Connecting two of the UK’s finest material producers with two of our preeminent US makers, these limited-release collaborations use some of the best fabrics and hides — made by some of the best domestic specialists — for supreme wearable collectibles. Using undyed true Shetland Sonsie Checks from Scottland’s Lovat Mill, Freenote Cloth gives us some spectacular Bensons for a refined take on the outdoorsman shirt. Paired with an Alcorn Jacket in an Italian Chocolate Suede, this is a color-consistent and versatile exclusive assembly. Working with EasyMoc, we sourced limited batch CF Stead Waxy Kudu leathers and military-grade Martexin Waxed Duck Canvas for reworked Rangeley Double Bottom Boot make-ups to provide two street-to-mountaintop ready moccasins. Grab the gear for fall and beyond, as these one-and-done projects deliver style and craft.
Freenote Cloth x Division Road
Our first collaborations with the premium producer of heritage goods in the United States are here. It began with the idea of producing wool Benson shirts with overshirt convertibility. After some sourcing hiccups, we aligned with Lovat® Mills — the home of tweed since 1826 — and discovered their new Sonsie collection. There, we found the perfect pair of undyed tweed twill woolens that present sustainability with natural style. The Ecru Large Gunclub Check and Charcoal Mini Houndstooth Check have been expertly tailored into these Bensons.
A balanced composition of refined and rugged, these shirts will stand out in their uniqueness but perform in all conditions while relating to any modern-vintage wardrobe. In a “Can it be done?” adventure, we collaborated again with Freenote to create a Suede Alcorn Leather Jacket with a perfected bomber-meets-moto fit that hits below the waist and above the pockets for wild rides and high-flying style. Coming in a Sciarada Chocolate Calf Suede that has a natural, aniline-dyed finish with a buffed and greased nap, this Suede Alcorn is hard-duty luxury at its best.
EasyMoc x Division Road
Taking one of our favorite footwear developments over the past year to the next level, EasyMoc’s Rangeley Boot comes with adaptations for an all-season outdoor trekker styled for city streets. Sourcing Charles F. Stead’s famous Waxed Kudu recipe in rare color lots, this durable leather — derived from African antelope hides — is known for its unmatched tight and wild grain character, making each pair one-of-a-kind. Sanded to a matte finish and waxed to create a dutiful and flexible skin that is even more robust, we coordinated this leather with one of Martexin's heaviest Duck #10 Canvases — a full 20 oz. — finished with Original Wax in a waterproof, military-grade mixed-material selection.
This double-bottom, triple-vamp pattern is fully leather-lined for an outdoor beast with contrasting stitching and hand-sewn thread, signifying its design-centric and hand-crafted nature. Influenced by Jungle Boots from the Vietnam War, the Smoke Hunter comes in Winter Smoke Waxed Kudu and Sage Waxed Duck Canvas, while the Field Ranger uses Brandy Waxed Kudu and Field Tan Waxed Duck Canvas for an outback-inspired style.
EasyMoc Factory Tour
For a look behind the curtain, we ventured to Lewiston, Maine, to document and exhibit EasyMoc’s artisan workshop — where the team works to preserve the tradition of indigenous, iconic, and hyper-fly genuine hand-sewn moccasin construction. This small team, comprising a fraction of Lewiston’s industrial shoe-making history, remains one of the few production studios that specialize in this largely hand-made footwear. We are honored to have access and present a look into this rare craft with our exclusive producer of moccasins, which puts centuries of knowledge and skill into each pair. Look into the EasyMoc Factory Tour for a window into the aged soul of shoemaking.
