The MotivMfg x DR American Camp Shirt is designed as a meeting point between dutiful industrial-era workwear, military button downs, and outdoor overshirts to act as a wardrobe staple for an Original Gentleman. This American Camp Shirt is made from an 8 oz. Pure Belgium Linen cloth and was exclusively developed for Motiv with Shenzhen’s best linen weavers to replicate a fine stripe inspired by early industrial-era workwear. This special and limited fabric uses high-twist slub yarns dyed in a traditional délavé process, woven as a twill into a softly textured stripe like a Bedford corduroy and enzyme washed to provide a subtle patina unique to antique linen in a cloth with beautiful drape and a luxurious finish. This new-classic button down is derived from early 20th-century factory workwear and outdoor camping shirts and is designed to pair with tailoring or casual ensembles. Recreated in an anatomically tailored fit with set-in sleeves, dual back shoulder pleats, and a slightly curved hem to be worn untucked, the cut of this shirt is perfectly balanced between vintage and contemporary. Paying homage to the originals with a finished sophistication, this shirt has a chest pocket with a curved and buttoned flap front, a curved point collar with hidden under-collar buttons, and buttoned barrel cuffs. This piece is packed with superior bespoke and old-world detailing like a gusseted side seam panel, single and double needle construction, felled seams, bartack reinforcements throughout, and custom shell buttons for an authentic antique aesthetic. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the West.
