The MotivMfg x DR French Draftsman Shirt is designed as a meeting point between dutiful industrial-era workwear shirting and tailored overshirts to act as a wardrobe staple for an Original Gentleman. This French Draftsman Shirt comes in a beautiful Rust brown, heavyweight Japanese 8.5 oz. Military-spec Flannel flipped on the reverse to provide a soft, brushed interior for comfort and exhibit the pronounced 2x2 directional twill for a hearty, clean, and consistent woven exterior in a robust military-inspired cloth that balances the dutiful with the distinguished. This new-classic button down is derived from early 20th-century factory workwear shirting and is designed to function as a base layer or overshirt for numerous dress-to-casual ensembles. Recreated in an anatomically tailored fit balanced between vintage and contemporary, this shirt has set-in sleeves, gathered back shoulder pleats, and a curved hem to be worn tucked or untucked. Paying homage to the originals with a finished sophistication, the Draftsman Shirt has a square chest pocket, an elongated point collar with hidden under-collar buttons, and buttoned barrel cuffs. This piece is packed with superior bespoke and old-world detailing like a gusseted side seam panel, single and double needle construction, felled seams, bartack reinforcements throughout, and custom shell buttons for an authentic vintage aesthetic. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the West.
