Description

The Studio D’Artisan D1815 WW1 Jean is a special collection piece made in the Tapered Slim fit, designed as a true medium rise with a moderate seat and thigh and a strongly tapered leg and narrow hem. This jean is made with a unique organic Zimbabwe cotton in a 14 oz. Japanese Selvedge denim produced on one of Japan’s original power looms. This naturally produced cotton fiber contains a high oil content and antiqued tan coloration under the indigo rope dyed warp, furthered by a beige pigment garment wash that has darkened the indigo and enhanced the brown undertone that will reveal an aged aesthetic through wear patterns with repeated use. With throwback elements from the 1910s that reflect an era of repurposing industrial workwear overalls into more casual-duty suspender trousers in a tapered slim fit, the WW1 Jean is designed as a modern interpretation of a reproduction denim, washed for vintage appeal. SDA also intuited details to communicate war rationing like the hand finished copper button fly and rivets, mismatched suspender buttons, a removed buckle back with distressed edges, watch pocket, and two different pocket bags using a military canvas and a herringbone twill. Topped off with elevated Studio D’Artisan construction details like rolled and tucked belt loops, bartack reinforcements, a leather embossed patch, and a chainstitched waist, seat, and hem, these jeans are your first step on a journey into the past by way of present styles, transported to you by a standout 40-year-old producer of heritage denim.
