The Studio D’Artisan 5700 Awa-Ai Natural Indigo Heavy Check Workshirt is a limited collection piece produced in an exclusive 10 oz. Japanese Aizome Hand Dyed Flannel to be an all-natural, style-forward heritage collector’s item. Dyeing using the Indigofera plant is a 3,000-year-old tradition, introduced to China and later to Japan in the 8th century Nara period, where the same plant cultivation and natural indigo pigment are still used. The intensive Awa Sho Aizome hand dyeing technique using natural indigo is exclusively performed in the Tokushima prefecture using local Indigofera extracts and dip dyeing yarns and fabrics. This all-season heavyweight Japanese milled fabric has uniquely saturated colors, only achievable through this natural process. It is garment washed for softness and to create a stable fabric that will evolve quickly with a personalized patina. The Studio D’Artisan Workshirt has a classic slim fit that works for various body types, and signature details are elevated from vintage originals like buttoned chest pockets and double button barrel cuffs, finished with custom Japanese indigo blue tagua nut buttons.
