The Viberg Slipper in Brown Split Horsebutt is a refreshed take on a vintage travel shoe made to fit like a glove and walk with understated sophistication. This vegetable tanned Brown Split Horsebutt leather is produced in one of Italy’s most exclusive tanneries as a unique development that utilizes the tissue between the shell and flesh layers of the hide to reveal both qualities and varying textures. The crinkling and spotting of the shiny shell combines with the matte suede to give each pair a unique pattern that will continue to transform and elegantly patina as it travels the globe. Further enhancing this distinct hide character, the wholecut pattern is made from a single piece of leather and formed on the 40288 Last developed exclusively for the Slipper, designed with an emphasis on an accommodating fit and a refined shape with a simple elegance. With a full kip leather lining and an unstructured toe box and heel, this piece is a demonstration of casual luxury. Completed with a 360 natural storm welt and leather sole with a dovetail heel, this perfected Slipper has a warm contrast and versatility that will complement the wardrobe of any heritage-inspired gentleman whose journeys are frequent, far-reaching, and long lasting. Goodyear welted with traditional techniques and coupled with channeled insoles assembled by Viberg’s exacting craftsmen, the Slipper is a soft-spoken masterpiece for the suitcase, yacht, estate, and beyond.

This is a specialty batch of horsebutt leather that is split between the shell and flesh layers of the hide to exhibit both grain and suede qualities. Through wear, this leather will continue to reveal layers of the hide and develop a rarely rendered patina. Each pair will be completely unique and such variations are not considered flaws.

For those who are buying Viberg for the first time, be aware they fit closer to UK rather than US sizes. As a general rule when sizing for Viberg, we suggest you select (1) size down from a common US boot and shoe, or (1.5) sizes down from a US sneaker.

The 40288 Last fits larger than compared to Viberg common lasts and we generally recommend going a half (.5) size down from a common 2030/1035/2040 Last size when planning to wear the Slipper with socks, and a full (1) size down if planning to wear without socks.
