Viberg Side Zip Boot - 2050 - Dainite - Fango Vitello Calf
The Side Zip Boot in Fango Vitello Calf is a new style within the Viberg collection that draws inspiration from military footwear in an advanced western styled pattern. In 1923, B.F. Goodrich coined the term “zipper” for a new style of fastener used on rubber boots, and this piece of hardware has been used on footwear ever since. Viberg elevates the approach with specialty machinery and new production techniques to produce a two-piece upper with a tall and slimmed shaft, featuring a full-length, Italian made, nickel-free Lampo zipper that lies sleekly on the pattern’s medial side. Moving forward, we focused the design to exude the refined dress sense of an English riding boot. First, we used a vegetable tanned supple calfskin with a sanded nubuck-like finish produced in one of Italy’s most exclusive tanneries. This Fango color reads as a light taupe that will darken deeply with moisture exposure and elegantly patina during its travels. Enhancing the boot’s historic feel, we utilized the 2050 last, a form with an accommodating fit and sophisticated silhouette derived from a traditional Argentinian riding boot. We then included a natural flat welt with the British made Dainite sole to provide wet and dry traction in a classic form that will age gracefully with the leather. The result is a Zip Boot for the modern-leaning and vintage-inspired alike, built to withstand the elements with distinction and grace. Goodyear welted using traditional techniques combined with channeled insoles, this boot is on the front-lines of Viberg innovation and craftsmanship while honoring every facet of its historical influences.
