Viberg Service Boot - 310 - Vibram Gloxi - Black Oil Tan Roughout

Service Boot - 310 - Vibram Gloxi - Black Oil Tan Roughout

The Black Oil Tan Roughout Service Boot is an updated interpretation of Viberg's original work boot, designed by company founder Edwin Viberg in 1931 and inspired by a similar pattern used by many nations as a standard issue military boot during WWII. This full-grain Black Oil Tan produced by Seidel Tannery is impregnated with a high content of oil and wax to protect against water and dirt, and flipped on the Roughout side for a sturdy and renewable nap. This substantial boot utilizes the historic 310 Last, sometimes referred to as the 1950’s Service Boot because of its rockabilly sprung toe and motorcycle boot profile, yet it was originally designed to replicate a natural heel to toe gait for safety in industrial work environments. Created to be an aggressive and modern moto-inspired boot, we included a separate counter and leather heel pull for balance and function, a straight cap toe for proportional refinement with a fully structured toe for protection in the harsh conditions in which this boot is design to function. For tonal and textural interest, we applied gun black eyelets, a smooth grain bellows tongue, and a black all season, all terrain Vibram Gloxi-cut sole. These stylized design elements provide contrast to the warm toned natural midsole to enhance and balance the proportions of this piece. Elegantly assembled by Viberg craftsmen using stitchdown construction, the result is a commanding boot built to part crews and crowds with unshakable purpose.
