Viberg Service Boot - 2030 - Itshide - Natural Japanese Cowhide
The Natural Japanese Cowhide Service Boot is an updated interpretation of Viberg’s original work boot, designed by company founder Edwin Viberg in 1931 and inspired by a standard issue military boot pattern used by several nations during WWII. As part of Viberg's seasonal release, this limited production comes in a Natural Cowhide Leather from Tochigi Tannery in Japan: an eminent producer of vegetable tanned bovine leathers that exemplify their old world techniques in hides with pronounced grain character, glove-like comfort, and dramatic patina potential. This Natural Cowhide Leather is uniquely air dried in a protracted process that naturally shrinks the grain for remarkable texture and pliability. Tanned with similar extracts and pit tanning processes as Cordovan, this undyed leather is hand oiled then glazed with finishing to retain the hide’s natural feel and surface, giving it a golden tan coloration and enhanced grain. Molded on the ever-popular 2030 Last for a sleek silhouette, the boot is completed with a brogue cap toe, hand-set vintage brass eyelets, and a natural midsole atop a studded Itshide commando sole. With each piece carefully assembled by exacting Viberg craftsmen using stitchdown construction, this footwear is perfect for those looking for a collectible vegetable tanned boot that will patina deeply to a rich, medium golden brown. The Natural Japanese Cowhide Service Boot is a classic make-up with its military dress shape in a truly distinguished and rare material to be highly utilized within any dress-casual wardrobe.
