The Ebony Unicorn Scout Boot is inspired by the iconic Viberg 105 logger that debuted in the 1950’s and is still in production today. Modified slightly from the original pattern to include a 6” height adjustment, the Scout Boot is an excellent combination of urban comfort with woodsman ruggedness that aficionados hold as one of their favorite styles. This Division Road exclusive version utilizes the venerable Unicorn leather tanned in the UK by the storied C.F. Stead, known for making some of the finest waxed wild animal hides in the world. This chocolate colored Ebony Unicorn is an aniline dyed Scandinavian Elk leather with subtly sanded grain for a nubuck finish that reveals the remarkable characteristics unique to these animals and allows the impregnated oils to come to the surface for exceptional pull-up quality. The hides are then treated with a subtle wax coating in the tanning process to yield a rich and distinct matte finish that provides additional protection to an already robust and pliable leather. To hallmark signature Viberg styles of the past that use a specific formula to produce a street aesthetic with an industrial sensibility, we utilized the popular 2030 Last for a sleek silhouette that corresponds to dull nickel eyelets, a leather pull loop, and a natural leather midsole atop the aggressive Vibram 4014 Christy sole. Fully assembled with traditional stitchdown construction by Viberg's exacting craftsmen, this footwear staple manages to fuse current and past eras with a clean and timeless palette that will command attention and develop a refined character. For those who are buying Viberg for the first time, be aware they fit closer to UK rather than US sizes. As a general rule when sizing for Viberg, we suggest you select (1) size down from a common US boot and shoe, or (1.5) sizes down from a US sneaker.
