Viberg IVY Street New Hunter - 2040 - Commando – Charcoal Chamois
The IVY Street New Hunter Boot is a completely new development from Viberg and Division Road, produced from an original workboot pattern that debuted in the 1980’s and is still in production today. As a combination between the original pattern and 1960's hiking boots, Brett Viberg interpreted these references with perfected grace to create a new classic that hallmarks the originals. The re-imagined design implements elegant lines and proportions on an aggressive style appropriate for the Ivy Street collection in a tonal charcoal and black color combination highlighting popular styles in the mid-90's. The boot features the sleek and subtle Charcoal Chamois Leather, a highly oiled, fat liquored, full vegetable re-tanned nubuck produced by Horween. The leather is flexible and durable for functional performance with a natural, soft feel that requires minimal maintenance. The heavy oil content of the Chamois protects against the elements, while simultaneously allowing for a unique patina to develop on its deep charcoal surface by greying and blackening. Taking the production further, we utilized the old Viberg banner logo stamp on the quarters, a full grain fully gusseted tongue and a dual roll padded collar in Black Oil Tan leather for total outdoor and workboot-level durability. Next, we combined it with a split eyestay design to accommodate the quarter flex, nickel eyelets, and a hand finished black washed welt and midsole for a tonal aesthetic and a resilient build. The boot is formed on the appropriately shaped Munson-based 2040 last, with an accommodating forefoot, low heel and a slight bump toe. At its foundation, this boot leverages a Commando sole and hand finished black wash flat welt and midsole produced by Viberg's exacting craftsmen using traditional Goodyear welting coupled with channeled insoles, resulting in a boot that will last a lifetime. Finally, the piece is topped off with two sets of rawhide laces to tie in the boot’s rugged build and historical design. Complete with the IVY Street collection's embroidered monogram bootleg patch, these limited and exclusive Hunters blend influences from singular movements of the past to present an elevated perspective on a piece designed for the Ivy Street with heritage quality to inspire generations, old and new.
