Viberg Engineer Boot - 2005 - Vibram 705 - Crust Horsehide
The 9" Engineer Boot in Crust Horsehide comes straight from the Viberg archives with subtle updates to one of their original pull on work boots. Popularized by the biker community and originally designed for rail and fire men, this is a classic Engineer pattern produced by the company for decades. The Crust Horsehide from Horween is a limited batch specifically developed for Viberg, utilizing a whole hide that's been tanned like Chromexcel, then placed in the Cordovan pits for extreme strengthening by specialty bark blends and finally hot-stuffed with Horween's recipe of greases, waxes, and oils. Each pair of boots is produced from the full hide, and left in its un-dyed and unfinished Crust state for unique and unparalleled variation in grain and color. Formed on the historic 2005 last, the shape is straight out of Viberg's work boot roster: designed for their pull-on boot patterns in the 80's. Characterized by a generous fit in a round toe shape that accommodates a wide variety of feet, with a high instep and heel, the end result is a substantial boot designed with a traditional focus. Produced in limited numbers, this style highlights its exceptionally hearty leather with unmatched patina potential. We utilized an unstructured toe to provide a refined silhouette, true brass buckles, and a natural midsole atop a Vibram 705 Split Sole, creating a clean tonal palette that develops a refined weathered look specific to the wearer. You will find each piece elegantly assembled by Viberg craftsmen using stitchdown construction to give this boot the look and function that true workmen and riders require. Whether you’re an Engineer guy or looking for a special one-off, this Crust Horsehide is a collectible that will gradually develop a Shell-like quality in high friction areas to reflect patina never seen before and possibly never again. For that vintage aesthetic that honors the original with a modernization of style and character, this Engineer implements all the right heritage specifications with a thrilling future of color evolutions.
