The Derby Shoe in Matte Brown Calfskin was developed from a discovered pattern of designs produced by Viberg's founder, Edwin Viberg. True to the original half-century old vision, but improved with several iterations on the pattern and now in its final adaptation with a lower quarter, improved fit, and French Binding, this well refined version is about as perfect as it can get. This shoe achieves an understated elegance with a vegetable tanned Matte Brown Calfskin in a dusty charcoal, produced in one of Italy’s most exclusive tanneries. This leather will darken deeply with moisture exposure and develop a simultaneously casual and luxurious patina. Formed on the 1035 last with an unstructured toe, the shape holds the classical derby style with a lower profile, while touched with details like antique brass eyelets and brown binding to create a shoe suitable for the well traveled, vintage-inspired modern man. Finally, through Goodyear welting using traditional techniques coupled with channeled insoles, a natural flat welt and midsole, and a Dainite sole, the result is a piece that will withstand the elements in distinctive style.
