Viberg Boondocker - 2055 - Commando - Natural CXL Horsebutt
The Natural CXL Horsebutt Boondocker is based on a Viberg interpretation of the standard issue WWII US Navy Boot commonly known as the N-1 Field Shoe, similar to the 1943 US Army Type III Boot adapted by using the appropriate vintage Service Boot pattern along with adding the original heavy-duty quadruple quarter and triple counter stitching. This exclusive-to-Division Road Boondocker utilizes a pit tanned, undyed, Natural Chromexcel Horsebutt by Horween with inherent shell-like qualities of immense structure and durability that will mold to the foot with a natural feel. This very limited, single batch leather was produced specifically for this make-up with Horween’s century-old combination tanning recipes including packing the hides with oils and greases to yield an extremely dense leather with flexibility and comfort with a semi-dress shine and finish to enhance the dramatic, unique grain character of the horsebutt hides. Further elevating the military archetype, we utilized the recently developed 2055 Last, which has a lower-profiled silhouette in an accommodating Munson-based fit that provides refinement to the original Boondocker shape. This new-classic boot is perfectly integrated with historically informed heavy-weight natural upper stitching, brass eyelets, a natural leather midsole, and an appropriately commanding Goodyear commando sole. With each piece carefully assembled by exacting Viberg craftsmen using stitchdown construction, this piece is perfect for those looking to channel their inner McQueen for their next Great Escape with a modern and collectable take on a vintage boot.

For those who are buying Viberg for the first time, be aware that they fit closer to UK rather than US sizes. As a general rule when sizing for Viberg, we suggest you select (1) size down from a common US boot and shoe, or (1.5) sizes down from a US sneaker.
The 2055 Last is larger than Viberg's common sizing grade, and we suggest a half (.5) size down from a well-fitting 2030/1035/2040 Last.
