Viberg Boondocker - 2040 - Dr. Sole Cord - Mocha Oil Tan Roughout

Boondocker - 2040 - Dr. Sole Cord - Mocha Oil Tan Roughout

The Mocha Oil Tan Roughout Boondocker is based on a Viberg interpretation of the standard issue WWII US Navy Boot commonly known at the N-1 Field Shoe, similar to the 1943 US Army Type III Boot. Using the appropriate Service Boot pattern, Viberg recreated these Boondockers true to the original with heavy-duty quadruple quarter and triple counter stitching, a raw corded sole, and tonal eyelets. Designed in collaboration with style maven Jeff Depano and Viberg, we re-imagined this classic with a full-grain Mocha Oil Tan produced by Seidel Tannery. This leather features a high content of oil and wax impregnated into the hide for protection against water and dirt on the Roughout side, and is left un-brushed as an homage to vintage military boots. The end result is a sturdy and consistent surface that will have a pronounced nap revealed in high wear areas. Further elevating the archetype, we used the Munson-based 2040 last to yield a true Service Boot silhouette with a low heel and a slight bump toe. Accents include an exclusive tonal tan heavy-weight upper thread combined with antique brass eyelets and a natural midsole. And from Dr. Sole, we end with an oil resistant Raw Cord Sole with traction yielding ice plugs, which pulls the contrasting and tonal palette variations together into an historically informed and refreshed design. With each piece elegantly assembled by exacting Viberg craftsmen, this piece is perfect for those looking to channel their inner McQueen for their next Great Escape, or to brave the Boon Docks with a modern take on a vintage boot.
