Viberg Bobcat - 2030 - Christy - Olive Waxed Flesh & Natural CXL
The Olive Waxed Flesh and Natural Chromexcel Bobcat Boot was taken from an original workboot pattern developed by founder Ed Viberg, which debuted in the 1960’s and is still in production today. While rarely used in the contemporary Viberg collection, it’s one of the earliest adapted styles by Brett Viberg for an excellent combination of woodsman comfort and urban ruggedness that collectors hold as one of their favorite styles. This Division Road exclusive version comes in a Horween leather two-tone design that pays homage to an early DR collectable using a dark Olive Waxed Flesh for the vamp and counter and Natural Chromexcel for the quarter, a fully gusseted tongue, and a leather heel pull. The Waxed Flesh is produced by Horween using a wax application during the tanning process on the roughout side that yields a leather with water-resistant properties designed to patina by revealing the nap of the Marine Field Leather over prolonged use, which will correspond in color to the undyed Natural CXL on the grain side through continued exposure as deep scuffs and high wear areas will reveal a complex patina of texture and tone. Both of these tannages are variations of Chromexcel, Horween's original pull-up leather developed from a nearly century-old secret recipe of techniques, materials and finishes and is known for its flexibility, comfort and durability. To hallmark signature collectable Viberg styles of the past with an updated formula to produce a classic with a modern sensibility, we utilized the ever-popular 2030 Last for a sophisticated silhouette, brass eyelets, and a natural leather midsole atop the industrial Vibram 4014 Christy Sole for a work-meets-street aesthetic. Fully assembled with traditional stitchdown construction by Viberg's exacting craftsmen, the Olive Waxed Flesh & Natural CXL Bobcat is a versatile, collectible style piece that communicates its elevated and exclusive nature while recalling an authentic heritage with a timeless aesthetic.
