Description
The Swiss Army Officer Coat by MotivMfg x Division Road is designed as a meeting point between WWI officer coats and modern tailored outerwear pieces made for the future. This coat is derived from 1920's Swiss and Eastern European military overcoats, re-created in an anatomically tailored fit with raglan sleeves and a center quad back pleat to allow for movement and buttoned tab to adjust the drape in an outstanding fabric that will naturally outlast any generation or future war. Providing a substantial form in a cut perfectly balanced between vintage and contemporary, this coat is made from a 30 oz. Fox Brothers® British Warm Churchill Overcoating pulled from the military archives from its use in officer coats as early as 1914. This overcoating is still woven in Fox's 200 year old original Somerset mill using the finest 100% British Wool for a highly worsted suiting grade fabric engineered for the outdoors in a stepped twill weave and single brushed finish to combat the elements with a sophisticated aesthetic. Since 1772, Fox Brothers has produced top tier textiles used in a multitude of applications, from Savile Row tailoring to British Military garments. By sourcing the best fibers from around the world and using intensive hand-driven milling and cording processes, they produce fabrics of the highest grade with comfort, density, and durability all wrapped into one. This Swiss Army Coat is designed with a rolling 4-button front and buttoned notched collar to combat weather with styling and functional versatility along with a washed Bemberg and featherwale cotton corduroy body and sleeve lining, resulting in a finely finished, dutiful, and comfortable winter coat with a structured drape. Paying homage to the originals via practical refinement, this coat has a lower front button storm tab and center vent, adjustable tab button cuffs, and beautifully shaped utilitarian pocketing with deep curved buttoned front welt pockets and a buttoned pass-through to access the interior in stormy or cold conditions along with an interior buttoned pocket for carrying small armaments. Further, this coat is packed with superior bespoke and old world detailing like taped and felled seams, zigzag back collar stitching, bartack reinforcements throughout, and genuine natural corozo buttons that have been polished for a vintage finish. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the west. We are honored to partner with MotivMfg to offer completely exclusive collaborations for a new and timeless uniform for the Division Road Army.

About MotivMfg
Created in Beijing by Daniel Gu, designer from a three-generation tailoring family, and Samuel Wei, a pioneering heritage retailer, MotivMfg seeks to break down the duality between handmade and machine-made clothing and to create garments stemmed from pre-industrial production methods, which are designed in a way that relates to present day. Based in a Beijing loft of a former factory built in the 1950s, all developments from sketch to garment are done within the MotivMfg studio. Using European tailoring methods...
