Description

The French Shooting Jacket by MotivMfg x Division Road is designed as a meeting point between dutiful mid-century European hunting garments and tailored outerwear pieces made for the future. This piece is derived from a 1930's French hunting jacket, completely re-created in an anatomically tailored fit with raglan sleeves, a two-piece storm hood, an asymmetrical 4-button front along with ergonomic pocketing and trims, all made in a durable material that epitomizes the originals with a more luxurious drape and feel for a piece perfectly balanced between vintage and contemporary that will complement any expedition. This jacket is made in a 10 oz. Delave Herringbone Twill utilizing thick, twisted yarns of 100% Belgium Linen in a broken twill weave that creates a textured, durable, and tonal traditional dress pattern. This exclusive MotivMfg fabric development will evolve beautifully through heavy wear as the deep navy and blue yarns with a tweed-like feel and appearance reveal the intricate, woven pattern while maintaining a structure that will conform to the body and patina with substantial character. This French Shooting Jacket is designed as an unlined, fully utilitarian outerwear or layering piece with a dimensional fit from body to sleeve using articulated wool ribbed cuffs that combine with a buttoned flap front patch chest pocket and wide welt hand pockets to provide function in an elevated style for any hunt or journey. Paying homage to the originals with sophistication, this jacket uses a high-density Japanese Cotton/Nylon Dry Wax Canvas that's weather and wind-resistant, the buttoned shooting patch can be buttoned over or under the front placket closure, and boasts elbow patches, storm hood facing, and pocket trim. Further, this piece is packed with superior bespoke and old-world detailing like heavyweight flax rope drawcord with Italian acetate keepers for hood and hem adjustment, genuine ebony horn buttons that have been sanded for a unique vintage matte finish, and felled seams throughout paired with bartack reinforcements. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment, one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the west. We are honored to partner with MotivMfg to offer completely exclusive collaborations for a new and timeless uniform for the Division Road Army.

    About MotivMfg

Created in Beijing by Daniel Gu and Samuel Wei in 2016, MotivMfg seeks to break down the duality between handmade and machine-made clothing. Based in the converted loft of a former 1950's factory, all developments, from sketch to garment, are done within the MotivMfg studio. Using European tailoring methods dating back to the 1920’s, all patterns are hand drafted then implemented with drape and baste fittings on real life models, ensuring the spontaneity of creativity.
