The English Dress Work Vest by MotivMfg x Division Road is designed as a meeting point between tailored dress officer and dutiful industrial era workwear vests, perfectly balanced in design to be a wardrobe staple for an original gentleman. This piece is derived from vest patterns dating back to the Victorian era, re-designed with an anatomically tailored and functional fit with a notched lapel, curved front hem, split side seam, darted back, and cinch buckle back waist in a design perfectly balanced between vintage and contemporary. This vest is made from a 14 oz. Japanese Mini Herringbone Twill Selvedge Denim that uses various shades of sulfur dyed black warp and grey weft yarns in a broken twill weave that creates a textured and tonal traditional dress pattern in this durable, 100% Cotton fabric. This exclusive to MotivMfg fabric development will evolve beautifully through heavy wear as the black yarns fade to grey and further reveal the intricate, woven pattern while maintaining a structure that will mold to the body and patina with substantial character. Combined with a Belgium Jigsaw Camouflage back panel to reveal a military inspired backbone, the English Dress Work Vest is designed with a rolling 6-button front to allow for formal and utilitarian versatility, function, and style and is fully finished with a cotton canvas lined body for a structured shape and optimal drape. Paying homage to the originals with sophistication, this vest has beautifully shaped and utilitarian welt front pocketing and is packed with superior bespoke and old world detailing with a functional button collar closure, bartack reinforcements throughout, and impressive custom, burnished gun metal buttons cast in the shape of the plastic 50’s military originals. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment, one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the west.
