Description
The English Aviator Jacket by MotivMfg x Division Road is designed as a meeting point between vintage European flight jackets and modern tailored outerwear pieces made for the future. This jacket is derived from an early 20th century aviator style infused with elements of British Naval and Air Force overcoats, re-created in an anatomically tailored fit. Set-in front and articulated raglan sleeves and a split back yoke combine with a French pleat borrowed from industrial era workwear to allow for movement with a design-centric approach, in a cut perfectly balanced between vintage and contemporary. This jacket is made from a 25 oz. Fox Brothers® Midnight Overcoating Proper Cloth woven in Fox's 200-year-old original Somerset mill using the finest 100% New Merino Wool for a highly worsted, suiting grade fabric engineered for the outdoors in a stepped twill weave and flannel finish to combat the elements with a sophisticated aesthetic. Since 1772, Fox Brothers has produced top tier textiles used in a multitude of applications, from Savile Row tailoring to British Military garments. By sourcing the best fibers from around the world and using intensive hand-driven milling and cording processes, they produce fabrics of the highest grade with comfort, density, and durability all wrapped into one. This English Aviator Jacket is designed with a rolling double breasted front with a notched collar and a hidden storm throat tab that can be buttoned completely up to combat weather while offering styling versatility. Paying homage to the originals with a finished sophistication, this jacket is fully lined with washed Bemberg in the body and sleeves, horsehair canvas pyramid stitched elbow patches, zigzag stitched back collar reinforcements, and beautifully shaped overstitched wide welt hand pockets and interior buttoned chest pockets. Further, this piece is packed with superior bespoke and old world detailing like a curved front hem, adjustable tab button cuffs, felled seams, bartack reinforcements throughout, and genuine ebony horn buttons that have been sanded for a unique vintage matte finish. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the west. We are honored to partner with MotivMfg to offer completely exclusive collaborations for a new and timeless uniform for the Division Road Army.

About MotivMfg
Created in Beijing by Daniel Gu, designer from a three-generation tailoring family, and Samuel Wei, a pioneering heritage retailer, MotivMfg seeks to break down the duality between handmade and machine-made clothing and to create garments stemmed from pre-industrial production methods, which are designed in a way that relates to present day. Based in a Beijing loft of a former factory built in the 1950s, all developments from sketch to garment are done within the MotivMfg studio. Using European tailoring methods...
