The Canadian Deacon Flight by MotivMfg x Division Road is designed as a meeting point between vintage high altitude and aviation garments as a modern tailored outerwear piece made for the future. This jacket is derived from the WWII flight suits developed by the Deacon Brother company, with elements from mid-century military motorcycle and bomber jackets, re-created in an anatomically tailored fit. This jacket's set-in front and articulated sleeves combine with back shoulder pleats to allow for movement, and are adjusted with a snapped tab back and cuffs for a design-centric approach to a cut perfectly balanced between vintage and contemporary. The Deacon Flight Jacket is made in an 11 oz. Dry Waxed Military Canvas that's been finished at the yarn state to provide an antiqued finish in a waterproof 100% Cotton fabric from Scotland’s Halley Stevensons®, renowned for their innovations in dry waxed cotton fabrics, resulting in an elevated piece from the military original with greater flexibility and durability along with a dry hand and a lighter weight. This piece is designed with an asymmetrical two-way zipped front with a notch collar and rolling storm flap that transitions to a lapel, paired with a split zipped hood that rolls to conceal within the stand up collar, and a storm throat loop to offer various styling and weather-combating versatility. Paying homage to the originals with a finished sophistication, this jacket comes with zipped front welt hand pockets, a patch arm pen pocket and vertical zipped interior pocket, and is fully lined in a dutiful cotton twill paired with a vintage safety yellow poly/nylon twill for the hood. Further, this piece is packed with superior bespoke and old world detailing like felled seams, bartack reinforcements throughout, drawcord adjustable hood and hem, and military grade nickel zippers and snaps with a custom vintage finish. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the west.
