The Anthracite Belgium Linen & Wool Grandad Trench Coat by De Bonne Facture is a collection piece inspired by Lenore Tawney, regarded as one of the originators of fiber art through her groundbreaking approach to weaving the best hand selected wools, linens, and cottons in complex, elegant compositions. With a focus on sustainability through natural fibers and production techniques that connect the garment to the landscape, this Grandad Coat is made from a 9 oz. Belgium Linen and New Zealand Virgin Wool blended twill cloth produced by a multi-generation speciality mill in Belgium, and has been washed and pressed for a crisp, natural hand in a sartorial piece. To create a vintage aesthetic with pure provenance, De Bonne Facture used this unique, medium weight linen and wool cloth that has a luxurious drape and sophisticated texture for a durable and rich variation to a collection icon for styling in warmer climates and cross-season utility. With a minimalist design approach inspired by vintage fashion, each element carries thematic consistency and purpose with details like a double breasted buttoned front for a business casual aesthetic, a notched collar and a rolling top button for the various conditions of fall and spring, raglan sleeves for a comfortable and draped silhouette, and is fully lined in viscose for a finished garment with a comfortably aged appeal. Paying homage to the original trench coat with sophistication, this piece has a belted front for closure and styling versatility, perfectly placed wide welt lower hand pockets, two interior chest pockets for devices and keepsakes, high character genuine horn buttons, tailor taped seams, adjustable tab button cuffs, and a center back vent to allow for movement. Atelier made in Châtillon-sur-Indre, France by outerwear specialist Hervier Productions provides the soul of fine regional craftsmanship and when combined with the authenticity of fully traceable natural materials, the yield is an artisan piece for the timeless wardrobe of the contemporary fashion connoisseur.
